If you, too, enjoy knitting socks, then go here and enter this giveaway ...

Lukas' socks

My 8yo grandson informed me that 'store socks frustrate my feet, Grandma.' Then he asked if I could knit him some socks. This pair is based on Gavin's Socks, by designer Meagheen Ryan. She helped me to tweak her pattern to fit 'older feet'.

The original design was knitted in fingering weight yarn with 48 stitches on size 1 needles for an 18month old. This pair is knitted with worsted weight yarn, 40 st. cast on, on size 3 needles.

I made an error and had to 'frog' back a few rows (and no life line!) ... so I thought I'd take a scan of this part before I finished frogging & put it back on the needles ... this time with a life line!

Ghost Knitters in the Sky ...

A parody of 'Ghost Riders', this was written by MMario .... it had me in fits of giggles!

Ghost Knitters in the Sky

Some fiber folk went out to KIP one bright and sunny day
Upon a bench they rested nearby a public way
When all at once there gathered there in just a little bit
A crowd of nosy tourists to watch the crafters knit!

Yippie yi yayyyyyyy Yippie yi yiiiiiiiiy
Ghost Knitters in the sky

The needles were on fire and the yarn it shone like steel
As yard by yard of knitting began to fast unreel
A bolt of fear ran through the crowd as the row it neared the end
But the needles were reverse -ed, and the rows began again!

Their faces gaunt, their eyes have blurred,
their shirts are soaked with sweat...
They're knitting hard to finish soon, but they ain't finished yet
'Cause they've got to knit forever on that bench out by the road
With their navoho plied bison yarn that they hand dyed with woad

I hope to have this and some other parodies in mp3 format sometime "soon".

Dragons & socks ......

The dragon is peyote stitch. I learned to do this type of peyote stitch because I wanted *this* dragon.

The socks are the cuffs to a KAL.

The blues .........

The 100-gram lots of yarn over-dyed with sapphire blue jacquard acid dye. All the lots were originally blues/gray/black/white, with one of the larger balls also having some brown in it.

The picture isn't great - but the camera I'm using is lousy, so this is the best I can do. This was taken indoors under as much light as I could manage. I may take another picture outdoors.
